Shrimp Marinade Recipes

Marination helps to tenderize tougher cuts of meat and also add flavor to the meat. The marination process may require a few minutes or it can also last for a few days. Different marinades are used for different types of meat. The ingredients used to make the marinade are often acidic in nature. They normally contain ingredients like vinegar, lemon juice, wine, soy sauce, etc. Different oils, herbs and spices can also be added to the marinade. In this article, we will concentrate on the shrimp marinade recipes.

I often make shrimps using these recipes in my indoor grills, but enjoy the shrimps sitting in the balcony.

Grilled Shrimp Marinade Recipes

This is one of my favorite grilled shrimp marinade recipes. If you do not like spicy food, then you can do away with the cayenne pepper mentioned in this shrimp recipe.


Ingredients
  • 2 pounds Shrimps
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1/3 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Fresh Basil
  • � tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • � tsp Salt
Method

  • Peel and devein the shrimps before you grill them.
  • Mince the garlic clove and place them in a mixing bowl.
  • Add olive oil and tomato sauce to the minced garlic and mix well together.
  • Then add red wine, salt, cayenne pepper (if required) and chopped basil to the olive oil mixture and mix well.
  • The marinade is now ready. Pour the deveined shrimps to the marinade, coat well, cover and place the shrimps in the refrigerator for 45 to 60 minutes.
  • While the shrimps are marinating stir them a couple of times.
  • Till the shrimps are marinating preheat the grill on medium.
  • Remove the shrimps from the refrigerator and thread them onto the skewers and grill the shrimps for 2 to 4 minutes on each side till they are opaque.
  • Serve the grilled shrimp recipe with the salad of your choice.
Garlic Shrimp Marinade Recipe


If you like the flavor of garlic to your shrimps, then this recipe. This is one of the easiest to make of the different garlic shrimp marinade recipes you will come across. Let's see the grilled garlic shrimp recipe.

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds Large Shrimp
  • 2 large Shallots
  • 2 inch piece Fresh Ginger
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • � cup Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • � cup Green Onions
  • � cup Peanut or Olive oil
  • � cup Soy Sauce
  • � tsp Fresh Coarsely Ground Black Pepper
Method

  • Peeled and chop the shallots, ginger.
  • Smash the garlic cloves and chop the green onions.
  • Do not remove the shells and tails of the shrimps. Leave them on.
  • In a blender, blend together shallots, ginger, garlic together, until they are smooth.
  • Then add soy sauce, lime juice and sugar to the shallots mixture and blend well till smooth.
  • At last add black pepper to the marinade.
  • Pour the shrimps in a bowl and drizzle the marinade over the shrimps.
  • Let the shrimps marinate for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Till the shrimps marinate preheat the grill, remove the shrimps from the marinade and grill them till they are done on both the sides.
Spicy Shrimp Marinade Recipe

  • 2 pounds Large Shrimp
  • 1 tbsp Dry Mustard
  • � tbsp Minced Garlic

Method

  • In a large mixing bowl mix together dry mustard, minced garlic, lemon peel, lemon juice, chopped parsley, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, oil, soy sauce, paprika and ground pepper.
  • Add the shrimps to the sauce and roll well in the marinade.
  • Let the shrimps marinade in the sauce for 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Remove them from the marinade and thread them on the skewers and grill them till done.
